COSIMENA Summer/Winter School

COSIMENA’s summer school is a yearly event hosted in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT). The event brings together master students and scholars who have finished their masters not longer than five years ago from Germany and the MENA-Region to work together on a specific academic field from different angle each year. An average of 25 participants are invited to international classrooms at the AASTMT here in Egypt, where they attend one to two weeks of training on the relevant topic. The Summer/Winter School allows a different angle to the young researchers’ respective fields since the classes are held by several trainers of different scientific disciplines as well as countries, from German universities and universities in the region. Therefore, the subjects are presented and discussed from multilateral perspectives and allow the participants to experience and familiarize themselves with the different methodologies, policies and strategies adopted in each country. Consequently, the event aim is to build academic bridges and enable international exchange to support research and academia of the participating countries.

COSIMENA Summer School 2023: Cross-Cultural Communication “How can we understand each other?”

With varied expectations and backgrounds, twenty-five junior researchers from thirteen different countries, including Kazakhstan, India, countries of the MENA region, and with residence in/from Germany came to Cairo to participate in the COSIMENA Summer School 2023.

Winter School on Entrepreneurship 2021

The first COSIMENA Digital Winter School on Entrepreneurship aims to bring together scientists and practitioners from higher education and the economy sector in Germany and the MENA region, building on the research that has already been raised in the past years and adding to the current discussions.

COSIMENA Summer School 2017

The first “COSIMENA Summer School” took place in September 2017 under the title “Training for Innovation – How science and technology can contribute to a better life for all”. 30 young researchers and experts from 10 different countries among the MENA Region and Germany were welcomed to participate in the two weeks summer school.
