German Science Day/Week

Since 2012, the DAAD Regional Office Cairo has been organising its annual highlight event the German Science Day. This event, which currently takes place in the framework of COSIMENA, aims to give doctoral and post-doctoral candidates from Egypt insights into the German research landscape and connect them with representatives of German universities as well as DAAD alumni. The DAAD Regional Office Cairo along with its network offer the young researchers a unique opportunity to get scientific advising for doing doctoral and post-doctoral studies in Germany. The diverse program of the German Science Week includes different formats such as: presentations of German universities, scientific talks, panel discussions, success stories from DAAD alumni and soft-skills-modules. DAAD staff also provide an overview of the German research landscape and funding opportunities from the DAAD. The German Science Week facilitates the exchange between promising doctoral and post-doctoral candidates and professors, scientists and experts from Germany and Egypt.

German Science Day 2024

On Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, the DAAD Regional Office Cairo hosted students, scholars, and experts from diverse backgrounds from Egypt and Germany at Conrad Cairo Hotel.

German Science Day 2023

On Thursday, July 20th, 2023, the event took place at Sofitel Cairo Nile El-Gezirah with the participation of about 350 attendees and a variety of speakers from Egypt and Germany. Organised by the DAAD Regional Office Cairo within the framework of the project Clusters of Scientific Innovation in the Middle East and North Africa (COSIMENA), this annual event offers the opportunity for doctoral and post-doctoral candidates from Egypt to receive insights into the German research landscape and to connect them with representatives of German universities as well as DAAD alumni.

German Science Week 2021

In the time from July, 11th until July 15th, 2021, the DAAD Regional Office Cairo held the “German Science Week 2021” organised by COSIMENA.

German Science Week 2020

Throughout this five-day conference, the DAAD and German Universities and Institutions offered information about career opportunities and the research landscape in Germany. The event also intended to intensify scientific collaboration and increase the visibility of networks between researchers and universities in Germany and countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
