In May 2017 the DAAD Cairo Office hosted its first Economy Cluster event. COSIMENA organised a roundtable on Science and Business to discuss the developments and challenges regarding the cooperation between academia and the private sector in Egypt.

On Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, the DAAD Regional Office Cairo organised within the framework of the project “Clusters of Scientific Innovation in the Middle East and North Africa” (COSIMENA) and in cooperation with Technische Universität Berlin at the Ain Shams Innovation Hub (i-Hub) a workshop under the theme ‘Academic Transfer with Sustainable Impact’.

From Ivory Tower to Lion's Den: The Role of Technology Transfer Offices in Universities

On September 28, 2019, the DAAD Regional Office Cairo brought together seven universities across Egypt, in addition to the German Jordanian University (GJU) from Amman and the Philipps-Universität Marburg from Germany, as well as founders of local startups to strengthen the knowledge transfer between industry and academia and promote entrepreneurship in Egypt.

Public Lecture

Within the framework of the COSIMENA Economy Cluster, Prof. Dr. Michael Stephan from Philipps-Universität Marburg gave a public lecture on “Creating a Fertile Ground for Innovative and Successful Organisations: Innovation Culture - Best Practices of Firms in Germany” on 7 October 2018.

Vested Summit

Conference

From 9–12 May 2018 the COSIMENA Economy Cluster participated in the Vested Summit hosted by TU Berlin Campus El Gouna. The goal was to gather the brightest conscious tech minds in emerging markets with the world’s savviest investors to craft and make deals that change the world for real.

On 23 May 2017, the DAAD Cairo Office and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) joined forces to kick off COSIMENA’s Economy Cluster with a roundtable on science and business.
