Exploring Higher Education Perspectives in Egypt and Future European–Egyptian Research Collaboration: DAAD Alumni Networking
The event focused in particular on Egypt’s association to Horizon Europe, which marks a significant milestone for the country’s research and innovation landscape. This development enables Egyptian researchers, universities, and research entities to participate in European programmes under conditions similar to those of EU member states—opening new avenues for funding, mobility, and institutional cooperation.
The DAAD reaffirmed its role as a key facilitator and multiplier of European research funding and collaboration. Through its extensive alumni network—comprising professors and researchers across Egyptian universities—the DAAD continues to strengthen academic exchange and institutional partnerships between Egypt, Germany, and Europe.
Within this context, the DAAD also emphasized its commitment to capacity-building through initiatives such as the DAAD Kairo Akademie. Future activities will place particular focus on practical areas including approaching international research partners and developing competitive grant proposals for EU funding programmes.
Held during the month of Ramadan, the event also provided an opportunity for informal exchange among participants, reinforcing the importance of dialogue and sustained collaboration within the academic community.
